For most brides who walk through our front doors, we are the first bridal shop they’ve been to. The process of finding your dream dress can feel a little intimidating at first, but taking some time to learn what to expect helps to make it feel more approachable. Here at Luxe Bridal, we are all about making the dress shopping experience as easy and stress-free as possible. So we decided to put together some of our do’s and don’ts of dress shopping in hopes that it makes your stress load a little bit lighter.

Don’t: Bring too many people.
As much as Aunt Susan, your 3 distant cousins and your college friends want to come, too many people get to be a bit much. A bigger crowd tends to have conflicting opinions and can become overwhelming very quickly. Keeping your group to your closest 3 people is truly the best.

Do: Bring your MOST important people.
You never know when you will find your dress, so it’s incredibly important to have the people you need to be ready to celebrate! Whether that be mom, grandma, sister, cousin, or even a close friend, having your people by your side will make your Yes! moment beyond special.

Don’t: Worry or overthink.
So many brides walk away from their dream dress because they feel they need to think about it longer. But if you get that feeling like you want to get married in the dress, run with it! That feeling is almost impossible to replicate, so don’t feel like you need to take a night to think things through. Every dress will be pretty, but only one dress will truly feel like yours. Trust your gut…it led you to the right partner and will lead you to the right dress!

Do: Come ready to say yes.
Committing to your dress can feel a little intimidating, but the feeling of being in your wedding dress is hard to replicate. Coming in with the mindset of finding your dress gives you more time to embrace the moment and celebrate!

Don’t: Put it off too long.
If we had a nickel for every time a bride put off her appointment for too long because they were nervous, we would all be rich. Dresses can take anywhere from 6-9 months to come in, and we always want to leave 2-3 months for alterations. Ideally, we love to see brides in the 10-12 months leading up to the big day to make sure we have the widest selection of dresses available for you! Obviously we do have some shorter timeline dresses available, but we never want a bride to feel like their selection is limited.

Do: Enjoy the process!
Shopping for your wedding dress should be a beautiful, wonderful, and exciting day, so don’t forget to enjoy it! Embrace the bubbly feelings, laugh with your entourage, and let yourself have fun. After all, the day is about celebrating, and you most definitely deserve it!
